Anti-Abortion Tour Returns To Fox Valley Saturday

For the eighth year, the Pro-Life Action League will bring its anti-abortion demonstration back to the area on Saturday, July 13 as part of its annual "Face the Truth" tour.

The group is known for its outspoken opposition to abortion, which often includes demonstrations using graphic images of aborted fetuses.

Demonstrations are scheduled at the following times and locations, according to the Pro-Life Action League's website:

  • 9:00-10:30 a.m. Aurora: Planned Parenthood, Eola Road and New York Street
  • 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. Naperville, Washington Street and Ogden Avenue
  • 3-4:30 p.m. Aurora: Fox Valley Mall, Route 59 and Aurora Avenue/New York Street
Because some images being used by demonstrators are disturbing, organizers place signs three-quarters of a mile before the demonstration sign to alert motorists. Not all signs are graphic, Knights of Columbus member Ted Castro told Patch before the 2012 demonstration.

“My wife makes some beautiful signs," Castro said. “There’s going to be a lot of good signs … They ain’t all bad.”

On its website, the Pro-Life Action League explains its reasons for using graphic images of abortion:

"While [drivers] may find the pictures disturbing as they pass by, we see no evidence that any real harm is done. In fact, a child who sees the truth about abortion may be spared grave harm later in life by avoiding any involvement with abortion."

The organization has demonstrations planned throughout the Chicago suburbs July 12 through July 20. View a schedule of planned demonstrations here.

What do you think of the Pro-Life Action League's demonstrations? Do you think some of the signs held by demonstrators are too graphic, or are they necessary?
