Community Corner

New Hope Baptist Church: More than just a building, it's a community.

New Hope Baptist Church of Aurora, IL is a church focused on service. The church just recently made 150 "shoe" boxes that were packed full of Bibles, toys, school supplies, and toiletry items for Operation Christmas Child, an organization that sends these boxes all over the world to under privileged children. 150 boxes is a new record for the small church (about 50 active members) and New Hope already has a goal set of 180 boxes next year! New Hope also supports local missions like Wayside Cross (providing monthly sponsorship and 100 Thanksgiving meals this year) and the Food Pantry of Victoria Baptist Church of Mendota, IL. Even the youth get involved at New Hope. This year the youth group created dozens of hand-made teddy bears and donated them to local fire departments to be given out to children during frightening situations. New Hope isn't all work and no play. The church throws an annual end-of-summer block party where food, fun, and games are free to the surrounding neighborhoods. New Hope also celebrates each fall with a trip to Ellis House and Equestrian Center in Minooka, IL for a night of food, bonfires, and hay rides. Also, the church has free singings open to the public, monthly fellowship dinners, and game and movie nights.
