Kane County Cougars Collect Toys for Christmas in July Celebration

Between now and July 11, every new, unwrapped toy for elementary aged children donated at the Kane County Cougars main office at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, home of the Kane County Cougars (34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva, IL 60134) will earn donors a free, undated ticket for the 2014 season. Donors will also have their names entered in a drawing to win a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at the July 11 game. Toy donors can use their free tickets to join the Cougars at their July 11 6:30 PM Christmas in July celebration as the Cougars take on the Beloit Snappers. At this specially themed event, fans can meet and have their picture taken with Santa, take part in a pre-game parade with jolly ol’ St. Nick, and try their hand at a gift-wrapping contest. A post-game firework show choreographed to Christmas music will conclude the night’s festivities.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys for elementary aged children ranging from $6-$20 (no stuffed animals or board games please) are being collected for Giftmart. For over a decade, Giftmart has operated at elementary schools in East Aurora, providing the gift of dignity by collecting more than 90,000 toys and selling them at a cost of $2 per toy to parents who would not otherwise have been able to purchase presents during the holiday season. Giftmart also paves the way for these communities to provide the gift of education to their children by donating the proceeds back to their schools, resulting in the purchase of much needed library books, computers, musical instruments and other supplies.

For questions regarding Christmas in July, please contact the Kane County Cougars at 630-232-8811. For questions about Giftmart, please email info@communitygiftmart.org.
