Habitat for Humanitys seeks volunteers

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers.  
To showcase volunteer opportunities, a recruitment fair will be held by Fox Valley Habitat from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 5, at Habitat's headquarters, Genesis Community Church, 1300 S. Broadway in Montgomery.
The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
Rev. Jeff Barrett, Genesis pastor and Habitat executive director. said leaders of 10 teams from building to human resources will detail opportunities and answer questions.
"Volunteering for Habitat is much more than building houses," Rev. Barrett said.
"Future volunteers are invited to learn about a wide variety of teams that support volunteers who pound nails."
Teams scheduled to provide information include building, church relations, family selection, family support, fund development, marketing, public relations, site development, volunteer coordination and human resources.

Fox Valley Habitat background

Founded in 1989, Fox Valley Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nondenominational Christian housing ministry that builds affordable homes in partnership with hard-working families.

Since completing its first home in Aurora in 1991, Habitat has built or rehabbed 49 homes in Aurora , North Aurora and Montgomery.

During 2014, Habitat plans to complete three new homes and rehab two others in Aurora. The Montgomery affiliate's service area ranges from Geneva to Yorkville.

In August 2013, Habitat launched a four-year, $1,850,000 initiative, “Working Families Rebuilding Neighborhoods.”

The initiative's goal is to build or rehab 20 affordable Habitat homes and to rebuild neighborhoods in Aurora, Montgomery and Kendall County.
