CLOSER - Vero Voce Season Finale!

Vero Voce Theatre is proud to present its Main Stage Season Finale, Patrick Marber's "Closer".

The story begins as a car accident produces the instant relationship of young Alice (Mary Doctor, Aurora) and Dan, the obituary writer (Anthony Berg, Addison). Alice quickly becomes the muse for Dan's new book, which introduces him to a photographer, Anna (Jennifer Torchia, Lombard). Through an internet joke, Dan's uncontrollable lust inadvertently introduces Anna to Larry (Chris Bruzzini, Melrose Park), a dermatologist with a sexual craving. What follows is an emotional waltz as they careen in an out of love with each other, resulting in heartbreak, lies, and the self-destruction of intimacy.

The show is directed by Vero Voce's Theatrical Artistic Director, David M. Rodriguez. "I've wanted to direct this show for years," says Rodriguez, "It's easily one of the most honest scripts out there. If you've ever been in a relationship that ended terribly, and who hasn't, then you unfortunately will be able to relate with much of the show." Rodriguez continues, "I hate admitting that some of the dialogue could have been lifted from my own life. The cast does an impressive job of connecting to each situation and the result is so believable, it's unnerving."

“Closer” runs at the Vero Voce Theater May 22-June 8, 2014. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.verovoce.com or by phone at (630) 584-0139. “Closer” is for mature audiences only.
