Christmas in July!

Despite 90-degree temperatures, Aurora's Paul Eggert donned his Santa Claus suit to benefit the Aurora Salvation Army Monday.

From 7 to 9 p.m., he visited with kids and adults and posed for photos at the Banana Split ice cream parlor, 820 Church Rd. in Aurora.

The first of three daily events was a fundraiser and toy-donation benefit for the Salvation Army.

Santa returns tonight and Thursday to the ice cream parlor.

The public is invited to cool off with ice cream, drop a coin or two in the red kettle and add a new, unwrapped toy to the donation box.
