It is a game in whi ch the players will aim to shoot basketballs into one of three designate d hoops. Unlike any other sport the competitors are none other than robo ts created and operated by students. These students with the assistance of professional engineers that act up as their mentors were given an abs olute deadline of six weeks to design\, construct and program their robo t. At the end of the anticipated sixth week they sent off their robot to a regional competition and tested their robot against many other formid able opponents. The Oswego FIRST Robotics Team just finished an exciting season composed of success\, immeasurable gratification\, as well as a sense of fulfillment. The team was able to make it all the way to the se mifinal round at regional competition this year. This all came about bec ause a man was inspired to lead future generations into a culture revolv ed around science and technology. Dean Kamen founded FIRST (For Inspirat ional Recognition of Science and Technology) in hopes of bestowing his p assion for these subjects among students forever. The organization he cr eated is devoted to influence the next generation by stimulating their u nderstanding\, practice and appreciation for science and technology.
