Your PrairieFest Schedule for Saturday
Here's what's up for today, PrairieFest's biggest day. It all leads to a performance by pop-rockers the Gin Blossoms.
Today’s the big one, folks.
Saturday at PrairieFest is the day the Oswegoland Park District goes all out. This year is no exception. The lineup, which you can see below, is topped off with a performance by the Gin Blossoms, famous in the ‘90s for a pair of chart-topping hits. (“Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You.”) The band has stayed intact, putting out solid pop-rock records since then, including their latest, No Chocolate Cake.
In addition to the Gin Blossoms, you’ll get a performance by Generation, local teen band Cash Inn will play a set, and the Park District Dancers will entertain you. That’s all on the main stage.
Two of today’s events have changed venue. First, the Oswego Fire Department’s Bucket Brigade will take place on the festival grounds, at PrairieFest Park on Plank Street, for the first time. The brigade is ordinarily held on Main Street outside the fest.
Second, Montgomery’s Colin Sullivan will attempt to break a world record today by balancing an 8-ft. ladder on his chin for a full minute. But he’ll do it inside, at the East View Kindergarten Center gymnasium, due to reports of strong winds coming in today. And he’ll do it at 6 p.m., instead of at 5:30 as originally scheduled.
The full Saturday schedule is below. Wear sunscreen, drink lots of water, stay cool, and enjoy PrairieFest!
