Three Injured in Crash on Orchard Road

Three people were taken to the hospital - one by helicopter - when a minivan collided with a semi truck on Tuesday night at Orchard Road and Route 30.

Three people were injured when a minivan collided with a semi truck at Orchard Road and Route 30 in Montgomery on Tuesday night.

The minivan was headed north on Orchard and crashed into a semi truck in the southbound lane around 8:20 p.m., Oswego firefighters said. Three people were injured in the crash, all women. Two were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and one was transported to another hospital by helicopter, which landed on Orchard Road just south of Route 30.

A fourth person involved in the accident refused medical treatment, according to Oswego Battalion Chief Jeff Warren. None of the names have been released, and Warren did not say whether the injured people were drivers or passengers.

The intersection remained closed as of 10:30 p.m., while the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team investigated. Warren said the roads would likely be blocked off for several more hours.

Firefighters from the Oswego Fire Department and the Montgomery and Countryside Fire Protection District were on the scene, as were Montgomery police and Illinois State Police. Check back with Patch for more details on this story.
