At the Jan. 17 Montgomery Plan Commission meeting, Commissioner Steve Jungermann was elected to serve as Chair of both the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. He replaces former Chair Mildred McNeal-James, who had served for the past two years.

Jungermann and his wife, Donna, purchased a home in Montgomery in 2007. He was first appointed to the Plan Commission/ZBA in 2009 by Village President Marilyn Michelini, and was recently reappointed to a second five-year term.

During his tenure, Jungermann has participated in the planning for the Orchard Road commercial corridor as well as the Ogden Hill Shopping Center. He is active in community watch and is the coordinator of the Orchard Prairie North Community Watch program.

The Montgomery Plan Commission was created to provide guidance and direction regarding growth and development or redevelopment within the Village and contiguous territory. The Commission consists of seven village residents, appointed by the Village President on the basis of their qualifications and subject to the approval of the Village Board of Trustees. The same seven residents serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals, which hears appeals to the Zoning Ordinance and makes recommendations on variations. It is the duty of the Chair to preside at all meetings of the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, enforce the rules of procedure, execute the will of the Commission and mediate all public hearings.

The Plan Commission meets monthly at the Village Hall in downtown Montgomery. A complete schedule of Plan Commission meetings is posted on the Village website at www.ci.montgomery.il.us. The public is invited and encouraged to attend Plan Commission meetings.
