Sport Clips Offers More than Haircuts

It held its "Friends and Family" open house event Aug. 7 and is now open for business to the public.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the village of Montgomery.

When you walk into 2077 Orchard Road in , there are flat-screen TVs airing sports highlights and seats like those you would find in an NBA arena. A six-foot likeness of Paul Konerko decorates one wall and stadium-style lights illuminate your chair.

No, it isn’t a neighborhood sports bar or your friend’s decked-out basement.

It’s Sport Clips, a male-oriented haircut salon where customers can receive the “MVP” treatment. Sport Clips is located in Montgomery’s Blackberry Creek shopping center, between GoldMax and Smoke Plus.

Sport Clips stylists gave haircuts Tuesday night, while owners Jason Gaca and Vick Mehta showed guests around the salon and answered questions.

Because the franchise advertises its men-oriented experience, potential customers may wonder if women can get their haircuts at Sport Clips too.

“Women are more than welcome to come in. Every stylist can do men, women and kids cuts,” said Vanessa Aguilar, manager of Montgomery’s Sport Clips.

Each customer is given the option of an MVP package, which includes a scalp shampoo massage, hot towel treatment and neck/back massage in addition to the haircut. All the styling stations have TVs and clients are invited to sit back and enjoy the whole Sport Clips experience.

Gaca, Mehta and Aguilar are excited to bring the Sport Clips concept to the village.

“We are really looking forward to serving the Montgomery community,” said Gaca. “It has been a great experience so far.”
