The nation's unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent in September, its lowest level in nearly four years, according to figures released Friday.
High unemployment, and previous promises by President Barack Obama to keep the rate below 8 percent if the stimulus passed, have been repeated often on the campaign trail.
The next employment report is due just days before the November election, so these September figures may be the last jobs report with any impact on the election.

According to the Illinois Department of Economic Security, the unemployment rate in the 11 out of 12 Chicago metro areas has declined compared with a year ago, falling 1.7 points to 8.8 percent in the Chicago-Naperville-Joliet area. Since last August, IDES also reports the Chicago-Naperville-Joliet area has seen a 1 percent increase in jobs, for a total of 35,000 new jobs. Economists suggest an ideal U.S. unemployment rate is between 4 and 6 percent.

The jobs report is a sham. "Hope and Change? NOT. The only "hope" we have is for a "change" in Presidents come November 6.

The jobs report is not a sham. There are no political appointees at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even the even agency head (a political appointee) is being temporarily filled by a civil servant. These are career civil servant number crunchers of ALL political parties. Why is it so hard for right-wingers to believe that our economy is slowly improving? Can they not think for themselves and do a little research? Does their hatred for our President cloud common sense?

The data is a rolling 2 year period, so if your unemployed more than 2 years your not in the figure. We net added 114,000 jobs half our historic average which includes picks in part time work. The stock market finished mixed on the data with the NASDAQ finishing down. The liberal media leaves these facts out. Let's hope Romney wins!

It's ashame that a country that loves the movie's "Its a Wonderful Life" and "Mr. Smiths Goes to Washinton" could even consider voting for Mr. Potter. I don't want to live in Pottersville. Please lets wake up. WE ARE BETTER OF THAN WE WERE 4 YRs AGO. Based on what Mr. Romney has said, leave housing market to just fail, let Detroit fail, and he seems to indicate he wants another war in the Middle east we would be in terrible shape especially in the midwest. See what Romney's Bain Capital is doing in our very own state in Freeport, that is what his ilk believes, I sorry I don't want to go back to Bush policies that put us on the brink of disaster.

I'm amazed at the critics of Romney, we elected someone that had zero track record, never ran a business, was a part time politician, part time professor. Romney has experience in all aspects. There is all types of spin on the Freeport subject on both sides. Find the facts, to think that someone would go into office and move jobs to China is just plain stupid.
