Organizers Egg-Static Over Easter Event Turnout
Hundreds made their way to Montgomery Park on Saturday for the village's first Easter egg hunt, co-sponsored by Community Christian Church.
It was a chilly Saturday, but that didn’t keep hundreds of people from showing up to the village’s first Easter egg hunt.
Organized by Community Christian Church and the village, the event—planned as an annual celebration—saw dozens of kids lined up at 10:30 Saturday morning at Montgomery Park, ready to hunt in the grass for plastic eggs. The eggs, bought by the staff of Grandma’s Table, could be turned in for prizes after the hunt.
Carter Moss, pastor of Community Christian's Montgomery campus, said he was worried that few people would show up to the event. But the turnout exceeded his expectations, he said.
After the hunt, kids and parents crossed Mill Street and headed to Village Hall, where the Easter Bunny took pictures, Montgomery Popcorn Company handed out free treats, and Starbucks provided beverages. Kids decorated cookies, and had their faces painted. And outside, they participated in a cakewalk—a musical chairs game with baked goods as prizes.
The Easter event was inspired by the village’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, Moss said, and is part of Community Christian’s celebration of 10 years in Montgomery. If you missed it, check out the video above.
