My stepfather was a WWll veteran who unfortunately passed away August 1, 2012. He was cremated and his memorial service ended up on Saturday the 11th. He was a member at the VFW. No one from the VFW showed up to honor him. It conflicted with Montgomery Fest. What a shame that a carnival has more importance than someone who served to protect our country. His name wasn't even mentioned in the VFW news letter until 2 months later due to a complaint made by the greiving spouse. Well, he was important to us. I guess we should have planned around Montgomery Fest. But then again, what would it have taken the VFW? 30 minutes out of a 2 day carnival?
