Milliron Requests County Meeting Pay Investigation
Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said he's reviewing the information recent County Board candidate Todd Milliron gave him about a county board member's pay.
Former Kendall County Board candidate Todd Milliron is requesting an outside police agency investigate board member Dan Koukol’s alleged meeting overpayments.
Milliron presented county board Finance Committee Chair Anne Vickery’s findings on Koukol’s pay to State’s Attorney Eric Weis last week and urged Weis to forward the matter to the Illinois State Police or another agency, as Weis’ office represents the county. Vickery has said Koukol improperly received the $85 daily meeting pay for about 50 meetings since he took office in December 2010.
Weis said he had received Milliron’s complaint but was unsure how long it would take him or his staff to review it. Koukol, who had not read the complaint, declined to comment on it Monday morning.
“We will review it and see what course of action needs to be taken,” Weis said. “… The documentation isn’t going to change. I know it’s there; someone’s going to have to go through it all. I’m just not sure who that is yet.”
Vickery has said Koukol requested, and received, payment for county board committee meetings for committees on which he doesn’t sit and for attending outside organization meetings not eligible for meeting pay. She said she knew of the questionable payments earlier but waited until after the March 20 election to publicize the issue.
Both Vickery, a board member of 14 years, and Milliron, a frequent board critic and watchdog, unsuccessfully sought Republican nominations for county board seats in March.
Documentation attached to Milliron’s complaint also alleges Koukol sought and received payment twice for a handful of meetings, including meetings on May 19, Sept. 6, Sept. 7, Sept. 13 and Sept. 15.
Koukol, who chairs the board’s Economic Development Committee, has said County Board Chairman John Purcell gave him permission to receive payment for attending economic development functions. Koukol also offered to reimburse the county on the spot when the matter was discussed at the April 12 Finance Committee meeting; Vickery told him she’d like to review the issue with him and the county auditor instead.
Milliron also is asking Weis to investigate whether Purcell “conspired” with Koukol for Koukol to receive the improper payments, according to Milliron’s complaint.

After reading many of the articles about this issue, We have yet to hear from the Board President on if he did or did not give his consent. Seems like Mr. Purcell should be grilled on this issue as well.

Congratulations to Dan Kokoul. According to my sources, he has been elected the Outreach Chairman for the Kendall County Republicans. I can think of no better person than Dan to have his hand outreached.
