What started as a traffic violation for a male juvenile, 16, of Montgomery turned into a cannabis possession charge on the evening of Jan. 15, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.

The male juvenile was stopped at 6:55 p.m. at Route 30 and Fifth Street for a traffic violation as the registration displayed on the vehicle he was operating was not attached to the correct vehicle.

As the vehicle was coming to a stop, deputies witnessed a small plastic bag thrown out of the rear window.  The bag was later found to contain cannabis, said the Sheriff’s office.

The subject was then charged with the possession of cannabis less than2.5 grams and obstructing justice.

He was also charged for no valid registration, improper use of registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and depositing trash on a highway, said the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.
