Kevin Sings the News: 'Happy Trails'
We say goodbye to our Patch troubadour this week, and he brings in special guest Ron Donavon to help send him off in style.
This is the final installment of Kevin Sings the News. And we’re going to let it speak for itself.
But before we go, we want to thank you, the loyal viewers who came back week after week, enjoyed this feature, and told your friends. We’re proud of it, and very grateful to you for supporting something so different. And all of us here at Patch thank our once-and-forever troubadour, Kevin Trudo, for making us laugh and making us think, week in and week out.
The last song is called “Happy Trails.” (And yes, Kevin really did lose his voice. Thanks to Ron Donavon for pitching in.) The lyrics are listed below for your enjoyment. For more on Kevin Trudo, check out his Facebook page. And for the last time, thanks for watching.
Happy Trails
There's a trail in life
That you take until it ends
Or meets anther trail that goes trailing into mystery
As that trail unfolds
into what the new trail holds
We can curse the path we're on or take the trail as long as it goes
And bravely brave the cold…
So, so long, Patch
We've had a couple laughs
Sometimes I laughed with you, sometimes I laughed at
So take 'er easy, Pardner
I'm sure we'll meet again
Down some lonesome Friday morning I'm sure you'll hear me sing
For 37 weeks now
I've lit a shiny light
I've lit up truth and justice
to guide you through the night
I've lit up our goodness
And the dark that lives inside
And realized that people do some strange things with their time
People drive into houses
And a lot of people fight
Though I won't sing it weekly I'm sure they'll keep that torch alight
Some people do some great things
They help their neighbors out
I hope that you'll still notice without me here to sing about.
So, so long, Patch
We've had a couple laughs
Sometimes I laughed with you, sometimes I laughed at
So take 'er easy, Pardner
I'm sure we'll meet again
Down some lonesome Friday morning I'm sure you'll hear me sing

Best Patch feature ever! My Fridays will be a little more quiet, my trails a little less happy. Thank you, Kevin and Andre, for 37 awesome, creative, heartfelt, hilarious, brilliant and just plain catchy installments of "Kevin Sings the News." On to the next. :)

You are a true talent. You have brought a brightness, much laughter, and even a few tears to my family (light the lamp, not the rat). I am sorry to see you leave Patch. Happy trails to you - until we meet again!

Dudes, y'all, guys and dolls: Thank you so much for the love here, my facebook, email and message. It's been a heckuva good time. I'm a painfully insecure person (hence the continued courting of an entire word through stage and song) so your kind words mean a metric ton to me. I appreciate all the love and support and hope - very sincerely - that y'all stay in touch. C'mon out and see me. Drop me a line. Start a good fight with me, I love a good fight. It's been a really great challenge and experience. Happy Trails, to all of you and anyone else who might have meant it but kept their mouth shut.
