If you consider the school district as similar to any other large organization then I'm not sure why it's unreasonable for the Assistant Superintendent, who would be like the Vice President of a company, to have an administrative assistant to help with daily clerical tasks. Both the Assistant Superintendent and her administrative assistant are not teachers and are not a part of the teacher's union, so Jen, perhaps you need to get your facts straight before taking digs at the many wonderful teachers we have in district 308.

Assistant superintendent needs assistance personnel just like any other business. *sigh* I guess everyone would like to have someone to delegate their mindless and thankless tasks to. Oh, excuse me - I have to go do some thankless tasks now - ;D

You people are unbelievable. Sbrkw is absolutely correct. Why wouldn't the Asst. Superintendent need an assistant? Maybe, if I dare call it this, replace the word "assistant" with "secretary". Does that help you understand it better? Maybe you should say it real slowly, or draw a picture/diagram for yourselves to better understand who's who in this scenario. And, do you really need it explained that the Asst. Superintendent means he/she is second in command, not the person who "assists" the Superintendent by doing office work or what-have-you? As sbrkw illustrated, think of the Asst. Principal in a school, he/she has an asst. to handle day-to-day office work. I think we know now who is qualified to do the "mindless, thankless tasks. Complain, complain, complain.
