Jesus Zepeda, 84, suffers from dementia. He was reported missing Feb. 28, 2013 from his family's Aurora Township home, police said.

The senior citizen with dementia reported missing early Thursday morning was found in Oswego, the Kane County Sheriff's Office reports.

Jesus Zapeda, 84, was last seen by his family at about 3 a.m. at their home in the 700 block of South Calhoun Street in unincorporated Aurora Township. Family members said he wandered off, and reported the incident to the Sheriff's Office.

Zepeda was located at about 10 a.m. near Route 31 and Washington Street in downtown Oswego.

"He was unharmed and told police that he wanted to walk to Mexico," the Sheriff's Office reported.

Sheriff's officials did not suspect foul play, but sent Zapeda's photo and asked residents to call 911 with any information. Family members were worried because Zapeda suffers from dementia and does not speak English. He was returned home safe and sound.

This is the second incident in one week involving a senior with dementia from Aurora Township. On Feb. 20, an 85-year-old woman did not return home with her husband from shopping in the Geneva area. She was later found safe at the Westfield Fox Valley Mall by building security as they were closing for the night.

With all due respect, if one is living in Chicago in February, walking to Mexico doesn't sound like such a bad idea

Florida issues a "silver alert" much like an Amber Alert, when a senior citizen can not be located.
