It's been a contentious primary campaign so far, and there are still many days left before the March 20 election.
There has been a lot of back and forth during the race for the Republican nomination for Kane County Board chairman.
The rhetoric has been intense, and each side has thrown its share of daggers.
From red-light cameras, to city e-mails, to charges of misinformation, to attacks on each other's personal character, this has been a no-holds-barred battle.
Who will win?
That's for voters to decide on March 20. In the meantime, here's a Patch poll.

State Senator Chris Lauzen, whose proven record in Springfield will bring real reform to Kane County leading the Kane County Board to face the challenges to the county in the future. Lauzen is the only genuine conservative in this race, and he supports the entire Republican Party platform, including fiscal conservatism on spending and taxes, and the social issues of Right to Life, the 2nd amendment, traditional marriage between 1 man and 1 woman, and full, open and honest transparency in government. Lauzen has the record to back up his commitment to the Republican Party platform in government.
I truly believe in Chris Lauzen, you are seeing Kane County's version of Du Page County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, who was elected in 2010 after serving 20 years in Springfield. Cronin's legislative career prepared him to bring more transparency to Du Page County, and Lauzen's election will do the same for Kane County.
Please support Chris Lauzen for Kane County Board Chairman by casting a Republican ballot and voting for Lauzen!

Chris Lauzen sat around doing nothing in the state senate for 20 years while the state government finances tanked. He has no experience in management, much less minicipal management. None of his alleged 'qualifications' relate to the county Chair position. His sole objective is to gain more pension credits. This is someone we want to vote for? I don't think so!

I'm afraid I have to agree with you Bob. And now he's got an endorsement from the DuPage chair. He doesn't seem to understand his senate district is irrelevant when he's running for board chair -- in Kane County. Lauzen will receive a nice pay increase to six-figures and as you say, give a big boost to his pension. This is all about Chris and not the people of Kane County.

Ah! Time to break up the "Boys Club". Guess what? I don't think you need a scholar degree in "municipal" management.??? Mr.Lauzen is a man to vote for! But no worries for your friend Mr. Burns, he may be able to park his "Kodak pic" bus alongside the other parked buses in the bus graveyard at the School District!

Your Mr. Lauzen for the past 20 years has been complicit in helping to make our state the worst in the nation for corruption, financial irresponsibility and business exodus. Major increase in taxes and two governors off to jail. He has no qualifications for the county job. He should be ashamed to show his face, much less run for this office.
