A five-car accident shut down part of Route 30 during the middle of rush hour on Thursday, Dec. 6.
A vehicle traveling on Route 30 failed to reduce speed and crashed into a car just east of Fifth Street at 4:47 p.m., said Oswego police. The crash set off a chain reaction that involved a total of five cars.
Laquisha Q. Brooks, 41, of the 900 block of Shiloh Court, Joliet, was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, said police.
The driver of unit 2, the first vehicle hit by Brooks, was transported to Rush Copley Hospital with reported injuries. No other injuries were reported.
No update is available on the status of the injured driver at this time.
Damages were estimated at over $1500.

8 th accident this year at rt 30 and 5th street a couple have been fatals also and now the real night mare begins now that IDOT is starting to reconstruct rt 30 from Briarcliff to goodwin and put up the 7 ft walls near rt 30 and 5th this spring.
