Final Charges Filed in String of Oswego July Car Burglaries
Lengthy investigation brought to a close.
Oswego Police announced Thursday the final charges in a string of 18 car burglaries from subdivisions south of Route 71 dating back to July 29.
Three 18-year-old men and a juvenile all are charged with at least one count of burglary to a motor vehicle and are at various stages in the criminal justice system, according to Oswego Police media relations officer Rob Sherwood.
- Altonte G. Smith, 18, 8 Birchwood Court, Montgomery, was charged July 30 and is facing eight counts.
- Trejamario D. A. Cook, 18, 32 Hampton Road, Montgomery, was charged Dec. 29 and faces one count.
- Cordero L. Dickey, 18, 505 Rosebush Lane, Oswego, was charged Jan. 21 and faces two counts.
- A male juvenile who lives in the 300 block of Sherman Street, Montgomery, was charged Jan. 19 and faces two counts.
While on patrol in these neighborhoods two days after the burglaries, police stopped a car for a traffic violation and found several items belonging to victims, according to Sherwood. All 18 vehicles robbed were left unlocked at the time of the burglaries. This brings the months-long investigation to a close, Sherwood said.
