Editor's note: The following is a press release from DayOneNetwork.
For a second year, DayOneNetwork is among a select group of nonprofits involved with the Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon Races.
The marathon, now in its third year, features a Charity Partner Program that provides exposure to area organizations and the opportunity to fundraise for programs and services.
“The Charity Partner Program is a great way to help out some of your neighbors in need, and to be a part of the Fox Valley Marathon races” said race director Dave Sheble.
The 2012 Fox Valley Marathon starts at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in downtown St. Charles. Race organizers expect close to 3,000 runners from across the Fox Valley and U.S. as well as Canada, Australia, Brazil and Europe. Hundreds of kids are expected to participate in the CASA Kane County Fox Valley Kids Marathon that weekend too.
As the marathon races “close” runners who seek to participate are directed to register through the nonprofit of their choice. Participants make a contribution of $100 to a charity partner then receive 50 percent off the race registration fee.
“It's fast, it's simple, it's tax deductible, and it's a great way to make your race even more meaningful,” Sheble said.
“It’s an honor for DayOneNetwork to be part of the Fox Valley Marathon Charity Partner Program, again,” said Joyce Helander, DayOneNetwork executive director. “We appreciate the opportunity to get our name out there and spread the word about the work we do on behalf of children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities.”
DayOneNetwork is pushing to meet a registration goal of 40 – the maximum for each organization participating in the Charity Partner Program.
