Come Meet Your VIllage Board Candidates on March 24

The Montgomery Chamber is sponsoring a forum at Village Hall, and Patch will be there to capture all the action.

You may have noticed this, but there’s an election coming up.

That’s right, we’re not just profiling candidates for the fun of it. This is all leading somewhere, and that somewhere is the voting booth on April 5.

Montgomery voters have seven Village Board candidates vying for three open seats. That’s almost unheard-of. (Pete Heinz will say he once saw 11 candidates in one election, but he tells the story like one tells an old fairy tale.) I’ve talked with all seven, and they all have a lot to say.

Finding the time to keep track of seven candidates isn’t easy. But on March 24, you’ll have the chance to hear from all of them at once, in the same room. And you’ll get to ask them the questions that are on your mind.

The Greater Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce is hosing a candidates forum from 7-9 p.m. at Village Hall, 200 N. River Street. It’s going to be open to the public, and broadcast live on WSPY (107.1 FM).

And if you miss it, don’t worry. Montgomery Patch has your back. We’ll be there capturing it all on video, and the plan is to post highlights, and also the full thing, for anyone who wants to hear what the candidates have to say.

If you have questions for the candidates, feel free to send them to me at andre.salles@patch.com, or leave them in the comment box below. I’ll be collecting questions for the moderators of the March 24 forum. But I’ll also be assembling a list of your questions to pose to the candidates, as part of our ongoing election coverage.

That coverage will continue with profiles of school and park board candidates next week, and video statements from each of the seven Village Board candidates. Our introductory profiles of those candidates will wrap up with Josh Salisbury tomorrow and Rob Watermann on Sunday.

The election is coming right up, so if there’s something you want to ask, get it to me as soon as possible. I can’t promise I’ll ask all of your questions, but I’ll try to get to as many as I can.

Like every election, this one’s all about you. We’ll try to get you as much information as we can, but the decision is in your hands. Thanks for being interested, and don’t forget to get out and vote on April 5.
