Cause of Boulder Hill Fire Under Investigation

No one was injured in the fire Thursday night.

The Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched to a residential fire at 6 p.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, firefighters found the attached garage of a house in the 100 block of Fernwood in Boulder Hill was on fire, said Oswego Fire Battalion Chief Josh Flanders.

Flanders said that at the time of the fire there had been people in the house, but they had all made it out by the time the fire department arrived.

The fire took about 20 minutes to put extinguished and was confined to the garage. Flanders said there was heavy smoke damage to the rest of the house and it would be up to the Kendall County Building Department if the residence can still be inhabited.

Flanders said the smoke was widespread.

“It covered almost all of the eastern side of Boulder Hill," he said.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The Bristol-Kendall Fire Department filled in at the OFPD station during the fire.

Great job by all, when I was on my way home at 6:30 they had already done a great job containing the area. In such a tightly built neighborhood and with these droughts any type of fire is dangerous as it can spread very fast.....

Lukas I am sorry for your loss of your beloved pets. They become a big part of the family as well. It is very fortunate that all the humans made it out alive. I can't begin to imagine how you and your family feel with such a large lost. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please know you have a comunity here that wants to help you. I saw on bookoo oswego there is a collection going to help you get the things you need. I am looking around to see what I can donate. I wish you all the best.

Sorry for your loss, Lukas. Pets can be replaced, brothers cannot.
Glad that you, your brother and friend all made it out safely.

Perhaps the Zentmeyer auto dealership that used to sit of the corner where Shuler's drug store was and where the bike shop is now. Cars and fuel and fuel tanks blowing up, it had to be a dusey.
