Village of Montgomery Announces Lakewood Creek Drive Repaving Project
The Village of Montgomery has received federal transportation funding for the resurfacing ofLakewood Creek Drive in the Lakewood Creek subdivision from US Route 30 to Avalon Lane. The project includes minor concrete repairs, pavement milling, pavement resurfacing, striping and parkway restoration. Pavement milling is the process of grinding off the top several inches of the existing, deteriorated asphalt in preparation for the placement of a new asphalt surface. Once milling is complete, contractors will begin the resurfacing process by placing and compacting hot asphalt. Minor concrete work will include the repair of small segments of damaged curb and sidewalk ramps.
The project is scheduled to begin April 25th and run through the end of May 2011. Lakewood Creek Drive will remain open to traffic at all times, with no detours required. As with most paving projects, daily short-term lane closures should be expected at various times throughout the project that will require drivers to observe flagger’s instructions and possible lane changes. The contractor is aware of the traffic conditions near the school (which has 700+ students) and will work to minimize conflicts, especially during high traffic volume periods.
For Local Residents:
Allowable hours of work per Village ordinance are 6:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Saturday, and 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sunday. Although these are the permitted hours, it is unlikely that the contractor will work during all of those times. It is likely that they will start early in the day, between 6 and 7 am. On days when they are milling and/or paving they may work later into the evening.
This project is funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Due to the use of Federal funds, this project is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), which oversees the contract with assistance from the Village of Montgomery. The project will be constructed by Geneva Construction Company of Aurora, Illinois.
Please contact the Montgomery Director of Public Works, Mike Pubentz at 630-896-9241 for additional information, or with questions throughout the construction project.

Yes I totally agree, Kevin. This announcement is being circulated around the neighborhood today. Even though the village knew about this project last fall, NO INFORMATION was provided to either residents OR the leadership at the elementary school as of last Friday. This is an IDOT-run project (kiss of death) - Geneva Construction (and the village) are taking on a huge liability by scheduling this project during school attendance days. Forget the police; get out the PI lawyers, parents! Oh, and BTW, Geneva construction has yet to provide a plan to the elementary school as to what they will do about the 700+ kids going to/from the school four times a day (don't forget 1/2-day kindergartners). WHAT A MESS, MONTGOMERY
